To be dead, while still alive

Did I die today, I have no clue?
I did not lie today, except in bed all through...

To be dead, while still alive…

Is this what death does feel like?

Akin to life but with more pain,

This is not what I thought death to be,

Somebody please feel free to explain…

Been told that when one dies,

They go to a better place,

Herein I just sit, in my same space,

Perhaps I did not find or embrace,

The right religion in life, I have no grace…?

I didn’t realize, after death a migraine I could still perceive,

Not even here does Tylenol relieve,

Maybe I am just a bit or quite naïve,

But I had really thought that when I did leave,

All my pain and suffering would take a hike,

I really did look forward to that, something that death could achieve…

Still must I eat, still must I squat to poop,

Still must I do pretty much everything I did while alive, that is the scoop,

So don’t look forward to dying too much,

As nothing changes, not even the soup…

Why not lay quietly on the shore and watch the tide come in.. or move out... that's gotta be an incentive to celebrate life! Put your head on Rufuz... listen to his heart beat... fall asleep to the sound of the waves. God, I can't think of anything more peaceful. Worth a try, Ed. Let me know. katy xox.

Histories of the world are generally written to either celebrate technology and science, or to herald doom. My book examines the path of the spirit in the onward rush.
