Quid Pro Quo…

Whenever we read,

Whenever we see,

Whenever we turn the page,

Whenever we get laid,

Whenever we pee,

Whenever we speak of others seeds,

Whenever we comment,

Whenever we look to the future,

Whenever we look into the past,

Whenever we remember,

Whenever we become a member,

Whenever we show desire,

Whenever we write we quell an inside fire…

Whoever we do this for,

Whoever we find to be our friends,

Whoever we try not to otherwise bore,

Whoever into bed we take to score,

Whoever we start with new trends,

Whoever we feel with when they make amends,

Whoever we think we hate, but nonetheless see,

Whoever we do love, but sometimes never see,

Whoever does love us, with all our shortcomings,

Whoever we do believe are forthcoming,

Whoever we do find to be unbecoming,

Whoever it is we are ourselves, we find ourselves to be succumbing…

We look into the minds of each and every one of us,

The people on the cross-town bus,

We find to be of interest, well maybe just,

But we see each other in this world, as being less than just,

We think we are better, we think we are the best, well maybe at least just us!

We look into minds, or try, as we eventually must,

To become what we have always wanted,

Before our brains do eventually turn to rust,

Or worse yet, they do become just mush… 

Have we accomplished what we desired to do?

Are we better this life than the last?

Or do we need another life to accomplish what we must?

Is our karmic sense clean, do we eat only what we know to be lean?

Do we go that extra step, do we pass on to our progeny that which we have learned?

Are we all happy with what is in our own minds?

Would our maker find us to be what he created so long ago?

Have we & He gotten from our lives what would be considered quid pro quo?
