Once Was I a Child

I guess this should be like philosophy, but I am not sure...

Once Was I a Child…

Once was I a child of considerable ill repute,

Never was I anything that needed a salute,

Some say I was quite smart, I knew I was not very astute,

Knew I did, even way back then, nothing I had was more than minute…

Memories of being a child, most seem to be a subject for a nightmare,

Always did I have trouble, my life then a living despair,

I think little has changed, but I do however realize now, life can be fair as well as unfair,

It, life, is what you make of it, learned something I guess, so rare,

Would I be better being a millionaire, sometimes I wonder,

Taught I was to be totally aware, also to use caution, yes to beware…

My future still looks glum,

Except for Rene’, Rufuz and Sinders,

My life is still a struggle not to be too dumb,

My life a glass house, stoned, flying into flinders,

Would the world in general be better without this bum?

Just better I seem to be when I am that of numb…

"Numb" don't get it done, Ed.
Have you read my Den articles on Bi-Polar syndrome?
From reading you, and our similarities, it seems it
may have touched YOUR life as well. The highs and
lows that go along with it are par for the course.
Don't worry. It's not a "mental" condition, it is a
"mood disorder," and happened, and is happening to
some of the greatest minds in history.
I always enjoy your work, Ed.

I think you just answered your own question, too! Chin Up; Move Forward; Carry On; Keep Learning!

"Except for Rene, Rufuz and Sinders" Gosh, Ed, that's 3 more to love than many have. In my world, you count the positive and I always find, even in the darkest times, that my own choices make the difference. We can't change the past, so why regret, why feel guilty, why let it determine the NOW. Chin up, Eddie M... the future is a blank page: WRITE WHAT YOU WILL! (and it costs nothing) smile. katy xox. p.s. it helps to get a little feisty! LOL.

Ed, I used to think you crazy, but not anymore, you have proven yourself to be certifiably sane as any other wack job.

Ed...it surely would not be better without you here in this hard harsh but often beautiful world.I am so glad you found this little nook of sweet escape in your world (as did I) poetry helps a lot, does it not Ed?

I LOVE your poem heaps Ed,ALL your poems are excellent but I sort of wish the last line to this one was more like this:
******
'Or would I be better off giving all that's unfair in life an
'Up your's and get lost forever'
thumb!'

*********
Don't let it get you down Ed...spit at it.
Best wishes always to you and yours Ed,
Always your fan,
from
someone who refuses to be numb...Kay.
p.s.
and...you are certainly not dumb...not....not....not,and I'll fly over there and give you a good kick in that bum of yours Ed if I ever read such a hint of self slander again...no one gets away with writing mean things about my favorite poets, not even them selves...my knickers are knotted now,see what you've done, you've flustered me!
(hugs)

Each of us is here for a reason and each one is a gem. The world would miss the poet I have come to know as Ed. You are unique in your own way and that is what makes you special.
