I hate job interviews...

Running away from the Present…

That is what I would like to do,

I have upcoming my next new job interview,

Soon as they set it up, I have to say I do rue,

I go in there with as much self-confidence as I can,

Little do they realize my anxiety level is though the roof, I tell you quite true …

If I could, I would run away, to an easier time,

Maybe back through time, when there was less crime,

Or sometime in the past when the dirt of man was not thought of as grime…

Okay so I am not the only one to go through this tension & stress,

But it sure does feel that way for me right now, I do feel oppressed,

I know I will get past it eventually, but for now my body & mind does need a rest…

Just let me live with the American Indians, way back in time,

Or the Egyptians or Aztecs or anyone of those ancient peoples,

Before the words, crime, dime, slime and grime became part of rhyme,

Before the white man did come and ruin their lands & kill their food source, such a crime…

Interesting series of anxieties

Amazing! You start with anxiety about your interview and end with a bang-up rant on behalf of our noble Native Americans. I'm not sure I know any other poet who could do that. You did. (smile) katy xox. p.s. of course, if this is 'stream of consciousness' you're in the company of the great Irish author James Joyce, named the greatest writer of the 20th Century. Yikes! Carry on (she said very sincerely). xox.

hey you can go clean that pool the 'Romans in Bath' left in a mess before they departed thousands of years ago.

How about that to get the stress level down?

Some of the people you mention did indeed have great civilizations, but they were hardly civil.

Just take a chill pill. Or better yet, do some deep breathing exercises or type away on the computer! Or go to the ocean and just sit there and listen! That'll do it!

I want to get away from Texas--preferably to back home in Ohio, or better yet, back to Tennessee and Kentucky! Or maybe even ALASKA! YEAH, that's right! That's the ticket! Let's look at some Northern Lights! Yeah, I can handle that...
