Alcohol Research…or paper & pen...

When young we all do drink,

Firstly beer, then shots,

Eventually mixed drinks are where we sink,

Either way, our liver pickled, it becomes; think it stinks?

Living on the street,

The only way to keep warm,

Is to drink our fill, don’t get much meat,

Outside we do lay on cold concrete…

We all do test our limitations,

Long before we do get complications,

Each of us part of our own generation,

We do, to learn for ourselves, have many explorations…

I have researched much in my life,

Alcohol, drugs, and the occasional use of the knife,

Never the needle, as they scare me silly,

Drinking, smoking, snorting & popping quite nilly dilly…

All do make me high; all do make me feel better then,

But the next day, oh do I feel worse than the last time when,

Gave up the drink did I after many years of research, amen,

Picked up another habit, yes the paper and the pen…

Hello Ed, looks like you and I are thinking about the same. I too quit drinking, then eventually started inking. I wrote "Old Dogs," about the same time you wrote this. Good job, good decision. G

I think the paper and the pen is much better than drinking alcohol. Don't you think so?

A great message with this poem.

Pen and paper never made me feel alone. But loneliness, is when you can't imagine a life without alcohol, but you also can't imagine life with it. Glad your research ended!

When young we all do drink,

Wait one second here. Darn it; I wish I knew about this research of yours years ago. I'm old, and I still drink. Man, am I in trouble now. I better follow your excellent advice.

And where the heck are you finding these profound pictures lately? Are you now freelancing as a photographer, too?
