Not really though...;)

I did die of late…

Of late I did die,

Came back after flying in the sky,

On wings of white gold through clouds of silk,

I had to return as I did miss my chocolate milk…

I did die of late,

Had to eventually face my fate,

Gone through the pearly gates,

They told me I was too early,

They sent me back as my life still had dates,

And I really didn’t want to leave without my soul mate…

Died I did just lately,

My life may have become too stately,

I did really miss this life quite greatly,

My life I had become quite attached to,

I just started of late to really have a clue…

To be flying on wings of gold,

To find myself in the presence of He who did mold,

Watching the world and the lives of man unfold,

From a point quite on high was a great thing to behold,

But wearing those skimpy little gowns,

I wonder how they don’t catch cold?

Damn it! For a moment I thought you were serious. Upon reading your title, I immediately began conjuring up brilliant epitaphs, such as, "Yippee, Ed is Dead!" Then I began feeling ever so guilty. So, I came up with a more appropriate and sedate epitaph: "Mister Stinky was here." Further reckoning caused me to reflect that a poem on your headstone would be more appropriate since you have made so, so, so many attempts at poetry. And here it is:

Ed picked his nose one last time.
Extracting a booger the size of a dime.
He examined it with utter disdain,
Realizing that it was his brain.

My conscience began to flitter and flutter. I spent a long instant considering my lack of respect for dead-as-a-doornail Ed. His undying humor began to echo in my head like a brick in a washing machine. Reality jolted me back to reality like a truck driving over my pee-pee when it occurred to me that you couldn't possibly be dead and at the same time, write a poem about your having died. Shit, piss, fart!

Your loyally disappointed friend,

Scott

"...He who did mold?" I know, I know... this is serious and philosophical and all that... but sometimes you word things in a way that absolutely tickles me. I love the positive, upbeat expression of this, Eddie M... I'm convinced that your brain will continue to pen poetry long after your demise, which you will NOT be experiencing while I'm in charge! So there. (smile) Great stuff. katy xox.
