Adversity Known…

I have known adversity,

Did not learn it in a university,

A “school of hard knocks” my school of choice,

My life has been of possibilities a diversity…

Lost am I in the now and sometimes then,

I have found solace in the art of Zen,

Meditation and prayer, chanting and an occasional amen,

A request to the heavens made by this human so poor,

Prior to the end of life, and heading towards the door…

Found for me, a life of adversity,

Brought on for the most part by an internal committee,

Feel not for me any or at all pity,

For I do move on through life just as you do, it can be so shitty,

So take from this what you will, and from my experience learn,

To go through life with humor, you will be thought of as quite witty…
