Sometimes the young do not listen

Some things the young have to learn on their own...

Sometimes the young do not listen…

Can we learn when we do not listen?

Are we not always preaching to our young to hear?

How can children learn anything if adults do fear?

How can any of us move onto another plain?

If we do not listen while we are here…?

We speak before we open our ears,

If we did listen perhaps we would have less tears,

Our lives would more than clear,

We may last so many more years,

Instead of ignoring that which we could learn,

We could then celebrate with loud cheers…

Sometimes the young do not listen,

Sometimes the young do not hear,

Sometimes the young do not want to hear,

Sometimes the young go in the opposite direction,

From the way adults do try to them, steer…

The young may not listen,

But still when they learn something new, their eyes do glisten,

As adults we must allow them to learn what is right,

We must keep them safe and direct them towards the light,

But still they may not listen, as they are young, as we once were…

We speak before we open our ears,

I fear we are all guilty of this far too often; Speak and Write On; I am listening!

Yes. I know I didn't always listen and can look back now and wish I had, but on the other hand, some of the lessons I learned on my own are the most valuable. I wouldn't trade them. Good write, Ed.

Very true. Each of us must learn in our own ways, we can only guide another but should never force our thoughts, as it is always possible what we think is right, is wrong.
