Rags Rasputin the first & last

I am paying my debt to Rags by taking the best care of Rufuz that I can...

Rags Rasputin the first & last…

Will we ever have another dog such as our first?

Not unless we can have time reversed,

Rags was not the best dog, nor was he the worst,

Dad just did not train him very well, most of the time he just cursed…

He did run away when free he did get,

Never to come back till hungry you can bet,

Dad would spank him with a rolled up paper,

Wish he used that on me instead of the belt,

Instead it would have felt just so much like vapor…

Rags looked like a sheep dog,

Most everyone thought him cute,

Can’t include a picture of him,

No longer do I have one, oh shoot,

This story I do write will have to be for him my salute…

Poor old Rags, he was picked on by me, as I persecuted the weak,

I guess today I would be called a geek,

I did not have anyone to pick on, so the dog did I disrespectfully treat,

I find myself to be quite upset regards my behavior then,

So dearest Rags, I do herein apologize to you again and again…

You know Dogs love unconditionally, that's why they are called Man's best friend. He loved you, and one pat from you erased all of anything in his doggie mind that might of hurt, thank The Lord they do not think as we do. Allow yourself to recover ED, and beat yourself no more.
God gave Man dominion over the animals, though abuse wasnt part of it, so it is to him we ask forgiveness.
Great write, God loves you too, and I know has forgiven you.

If you are truly sorry animals forgive easily, unlike people. You have learnt from your mistake, and it takes guts to admit it publicly. I have no doubt you have been forgiven.

Oh, Eddie M... Sometimes you just crack my heart. Of course Rags forgives you... now YOU must forgive yourself. Your poetry is so therapeutic at times... "true confessions"... but you can't undo the past so don't waste an ounce of energy beating yourself up. What you have with Rufuz is the genuine, new and improved, gentle and most definitely COOL YOU! We love you... join the club! (smile) katy xox.

Sorry to hear you gave Rags such a rough time, but also glad to hear that as you aged, you gained more respect and admiration for animals, something many never do.

And I'm sure Rags forgives you, animals are much more forgiving than many of we humans seem to be.

the belt, ....thanks a lot pal
I had forgotten that for a while
until you mentioned it,
yeah! I felt that on the regular bases
i was the black sheep out of seven kids,
some guessed I deserved it, (Me too at times)
as for dogs I had my share of those
the wife an I both agreed no more pets,
as much as you love them,
they can tie you down, more then kids.

William .....Peace & love
