Ramblings...................

I dream to write...

I write sometimes and cannot stop,

My fingers fleeting on the keyboard,

My mind I cannot stop,

My thoughts I cannot from refrain,

The craziness of writing comes from within like a monsoon rain…

In sleep I do dream,

Therein I do also scream,

Out various writes and poetry,

They stay in my head and flow like a stream,

The heat they do create comes forth as steam,

Please oh gods of the written word,

Do not let me forget them, allow me the patience of your supreme…

What was it I did dream?

Was it of peaches and ice cream?

Or did I see my special girl flowing into a swirl,

There she was driving away from me at speed,

In a car that did not run on gasoline,

In her front seat a toad instead of me…

Do I write of a dream?

Or do I dream of a write?

Am I here in this state,

To become one with my fate,

Or do I do so to seem to you that I am right…?

I’ve no idea of which way I do go,

I think one dream is better than the other,

Then I put it to words,

It does not seem worth the effort,

As in this written word,

I think it is for the birds…

Do I dream to write?

Or do I write to dream…?

Ed,

Sometimes, poems come to me easily; other times, I have to struggle to say what I want to say. But as long as they're coming, I'll write them down. Don't ever give up writing--well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)

It sounds to me like you are thinking about writing even in your dreams. I wake up sometimes with rhyme spewing from my lips, unfortunately I am usually too lazy to jot them down and by morning they are lost forever. You did a great job with this topic, which I think effects all of us from time to time.
Take care,
Sherry

Hmmm... if this is "for the birds" EM, then I'd like to be a bird! You are simply in that ever-popular place of the poet: scraping the depths... and it becomes you, indeed.

Me thinks this is a well-versed verse that boiled up from the gut. It's a good one! Rest easy, my sweet poet. Your pen is like no other. katy xox

Do I dream to write?
Or do I write to dream…?

I think most of us do both - so just keep on, keepin on.

Like Diana, I too suspect it is both.
Isn't it something the way this 'creative side' of our beings
takes hold and refuses to let go?
For us manic-depressives...I think this is indeed a Godsend. A
release that helps us maintain whatever sanity we possess.
