In Comparison…

In comparison to you I am but a man,

In comparison to another I may but only be again a man,

In comparison to others I may be but a child playing in sand,

In comparison to yet someone else I may be quite early in my eternal development…

We all do compare ourselves to others,

Fathers do themselves to mothers,

Sisters do to brothers,

A child compares itself to what they see in the mirror…

Boys do compare to men,

And men, by women, to boys,

As they say it’s not them but the size of their “toys,”

Oh come on all you men out there don’t be playing coy…

As we grow, our comparisons vary,

How much does one boy grow or is he hairy?

Does he play football, or sports or does he act the part of a fairy?

When older he does get, does he have hair on his head or nary,

Some do say that where my brain does reside it is quite airy…

Suffice to say, we all do differ,

I am told I do write much better when with alcohol I am much stiffer,

But we all do inhabit this world of ours,

To live out our lives through multitudinous hours,

We are all one in the same, till comparisons do our times devour…

Unfortunetly, and sadly, methinks your comparison of the human race is honest and fitting. We are all pretty much the same, although most of us would fight to the death to prove you wrong, still . . .

Shall I compare thee to a summer day? You are hot as June and just as bright!
