He buried his loot on the shores of South Jersey…
When his ship it did start to flounder,
Off the shores of early New Jersey,
Quite before the islands were settled,
Only Indians and hearty white men here did live,
He came ashore to bury his booty,
Killing those that did the digging, a bullet to them he did give…
Not able are we to find that loot,
Buried amongst the sand dunes by an old coot,
Lost he was off the shores of some southern land,
His loot never again to be touched by human hand…
Gold doubloons and riches of silk and grace,
Pearls of white and black that did of the time set the pace,
Kept to perfection buried under the dunes,
Lasting through hurricanes and typhoons,
If found one could become a modern day tycoon…
His flag did fall on far away southern shores,
The Spanish and English did on him declare wars,
No more would he pillage and plunder the out of doors,
His ship, crew and himself, dead under the sea in the vicinity of the Azores…
