Stepping over the carcasses of the dead...

What have we learned?

Knowledge of the dead we have spurned,

Stepped over them like so much flotsam,

For all intents & purposes their past is burned…

Where do we go from this point?

Do we allow ourselves to accept death,

It is after all is said and done for what we do strive,

Our past but memories, our futures but hopes,

Off the cliff of death do we eventually drive…

Like ants in a row,

Our numbers do grow,

Crushing asunder the dead,

Forgetting what they had in their head…

Passing up knowledge for pleasure,

Getting in as much as we can leisure,

Playing the lottery looking for treasure,

Life in general a circle, just for good measure…

Death is definitly unavoidable and often unexpected, but life usually is there before and that's what we should enjoy. Great write,

Death is simply a cycle of life, Ed, and we all will take that journey when the time comes. Relax, ashes to ashes and all that. No point in worrying about death, it will arrive soon enough, and hopefully without warning.
Take care,
Sherry

Cheer up, my friend - we all must die sometime, and hopefully we've learned something from those who came before; and at least our corpses have some use; they feed those ants and other insects who live on.

Love,
Eileen
