The great paradox of life...people who call themselves "peaceful" arming themselves like Fort Knox in order to prove it. Makes me wonder, too.

If we take away guns, only criminals will have them. Survival is not mandatory, but for me, I will keep a weapon(s) for personal protection and I will continue to take classes in gun safety and keep up my shooting skills. It doesn't help to have a peaceful heart without a means of protection of our homes and families, when the bad guys come knocking, be they criminals or governments who wish to take away our rights. Nukes, I think that they are literally "overkill" and unnecessary to the maintenance of world peace. Plutonium has an extremely long half-life and will poison our planet for thousands and thousands of years.

Your point is well taken , but how do you stop the rest of the world from having weapons? They are out there and nuts like the guy in North Korea, isn't going to give them up...et

You've raised some very interesting points, Ed. To do it justice, however, the whole world would have to dump the weapons of all kinds and that (sadly) just isn't going to happen.

Man's world escalayes as does man's weapons. It's a sad commentary when the headlines blast what weaponry some other country has and what they can do about their new toys. This is sick when killing means winnning.
