Reminds me of my Blackie...the sofa is HIS too. He's a small dog so still room for me.:) Maybe you need a modular sofa, plenty of room there!

I can truthfully say that i really don't know the solution. Rufuz has a mind of his own and wants to be comfortable in his own home. Let him do it, I do with Seashore my cat, she can lay all over the bed and I'll let her alone. She is my pride and joy just like Rufuz is to you. Nice photo, wonderful dog. Good Company, and a spot on the floor can be yours to make comfortable if you wish.

Just love him and put up with his quirks; be glad you have him in your life! I'd get mad at my kitties whenever they'd try to love on me when I wanted to be left alone, but of course, they'd start purring, and that was all she wrote; I couldn't stay mad at them! LOL I'd give anything to have a furry companion again, and not just stuffed toys!!

I do have one kitty that purrs and meows (it runs on batteries; it's adoRAble! Our neighbor got it for us; we love it!).

They all do that. My big boy Pride takes over my computer chair every time I walked away from it. It is because he knows I will return to the chair and will always find him there.

Our pets view our chairs as a security zone for them.

Solution. Give Rufuz a teddy bear to lie on the couch with, then grab yourself a blankie ED and curl up on the floor by Rufuz!

My heart aches for you, Rufuz. You have to put up with a lot, but at least you know your Dad writes really good poems about you and him. You sure look beautiful in the above picture. I'm glad you have such a comfy bed. If you got Dad a footstool to prop his feet on, I'm pretty sure he'd be satisfied to sit on the other end of the couch while you are naping. Other than that, whoever gets there first gets the spot.

I'll say...first you get out the most comfortable fully blanket you have, take into the room with the TV and right next to the chair, lay it out but still keep it fluffy and comfortable looking....then you lay on it and start humming and growning, not like your in pain but like your in Ecstasy...as soon as he comes to you tell him to lay down and rub his favorite parts, head, belly, back then cover him...You'll have the chair to yourself again....love and hugs...Bonnie

Suggestion for both of you get Rufuz one of those great big oversized cushions and Ed you can have the couch. Solution to problem solved. Thank you for sharing.
