Thanks to Jeanette Cooper for the impetus for this write…be sure to read her write, "The Age of Earned Respect"

Poem Artwork

Of older age I do know that I have arrived,

Still but a child in comparison to some,

Knowledge that others older than I still has yet to come,

I’ve not, like them, through longer years survived…

Last summer (almost 1 year to the day) I almost died,

And this summer I seem to have lost what I did learn,

I have yet to make Rene my blushing bride,

As for her, I have a constant and everlasting concern…

But I still do grow and even sometimes I do achieve,

Of others I have grown to love & lost, I do grieve,

I’ve also gained of new others, of this I did not conceive,

My life is truly better & brighter, re-finding God & His works,

I am most happy and content that of this life, last year, I did not leave…

WAHOO!!! And we are, too, Ed... VERY GLAD!!!! :)) I can relate fully to every word, having been there and back again, stared death in the face, had an illness which has robbed me of so much learning and memory capacity... YET counting my blessings each and every day, grateful for a greater level of awareness and eager zest for life and for taking on the challenges that still await.... Upwards and onwards, young man, as we are all singing your tune xxxxxx

Ed, I don't think any of us are "fully enlightened"...it's a journey, and we learn little by little and day by day...your thoughts are beautiful.

When one is given a second chance for life, it's time to wake up and give up the careless lifestyle. You've come a long way in the past year...through the many, many prayers of your friends to God for your recovery. Keep on keeping on with medical advice and faith, my friend; you'll gain much more of life...and live longer!!
Blessings and Love to you Ed - Micke

I am happy you are doing so well Ed, keep it up as God proved, He's not ready for you yet but I do believe Rene is, she was by your side pulling you through those times.

AMEN! WE ARE NONE 'FULLY' ENLIGHTENED YET...ALL OF US ARE ON A JOURNEY. WE DON'T GET CREDIT FOR BEING ENLIGHTENED...WE GET THE CREDIT FOR 'TRYING' TO GET THERE. THANKS FOR SHARING, LOVE AND BLESSINGS, JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
