Gotta get out at least once a day...

Poem Artwork

Took a walk up the block,

My walker & I did of me take stock,

Better I did feel when we got back,

Still to do so without assistance,

I do most assuredly lack…

But I try to do so at least once a day,

Unless it rains, then inside I do stay,

I would really want to go back to work,

If I were to get Social Security Disability,

I guess I would kind of feel like a jerk…

I am only 58 years old,

Not old enough to give up,

So I will keep trying as hard as I can,

I have been and always will be,

To the best of my knowledge, my own man…(bear with me

I like your attitude. Walking will help you a lot and hopefully you'll be able to get out soon without a walker if you keep it up.

I once applied for disability Social Security because I am and was disabled at the time. To my surprise, they told me I couldn't apply for disability if I was working. Apparently according to the government definition, you can't work with a disability and you can't be disabled unless you aren't working. It's interesting how our lawmakers pass laws and create definitions that don't make any sense.

Anyway, I kept on working until I was 68, and now received normal Social Security. You can do it too.

Be grateful you can walk. Be grateful you're still here. Just don't give up. If you have to go on disability, so be it -- you gave it your best. Be proud in that. I am thankful you are alive.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

You may use a walker now, Ed, but be grateful that you can still walk. Glad you are getting back on your feet! And Ed, I am younger than you and am trying to get on disability. Can't work again. But like you, I'm a fighter and refuse to give up! Prayers continuing! (I have a walker, and I hated that thing; much easier for me to use my crutches!)

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Texas, Karen Lynn. :)

Wow, Ed! You're younger than... ...a lot of folks I know. ☺ You're obviously a fighter since you're out there walking. Good for you. I send you my very best wishes with love, peace, and healing,

Regis

Nope, you sure don't want to start thinking about giving up. Still, as young as you are (I'm seventy-three, so you are young to me) you have had plenty of medical problems, and this last one laid you up for a good while, in fact you are still more or less laid up. Hang in there, Ed, wishing you the best.
