My little girlfriend went on ahead...

Taken by intestinal cancer,

She went the way she needed,

The only way, the only answer,

She was suffering & I knew it,

She had true grit…

 

Crossed she did the Rainbow bridge,

Happy now with no more pain,

She does frolic with other dogs there,

But for her it’s only fair…

 

A good doggy she always was,

Walks with me we took so much,

She loved everyone, dogs, cats & such,

Now she can teach love to other doggies,

I will miss her kisses and her calming touch…L

Aw! They give so much don't they? So sorry for your loss, Ed...my own little "Allie" (in her fourteenth year) now has bladder cancer and we're doing everything we can to keep her with us for as long as we can...until we know it's time...she's a family member and we adore her....

It seems dogs are more prone to ailments that are killers than we humans. Perhaps because they're no longer wild, but tamed by us to be totally dependent upon us and to get our ailments, like cancer. In the wild, they always die a violent death because the weakest are the first culled from the pack.

So sorry for your loss.

Oh Ed, they are never with us for long enough - but my philosophy is that at least it's not the other way around. They are not the ones left behind, hoping that somebody else will love them like we did.
