When the world ends I want to know of its coming or is it going...?
Another day we avoided getting blown to hell,
I guess that should make us all feel quite well,
How does that make you actually feel,
It all brings to the forefront for me of life so real…
A certain person said once that he would blow them to hell,
Was that a realistic statement or just campaign rhetoric,
If we were to die the ultimate nuclear death, I’d hope to me they’d tell,
For I would want to know in advance so I could about it write a limerick,
That unfortunately then I could not in the future sell…
I do appreciate your philosophical musings here, Ed. Sadly, in my opinion, man is the scourge of this planet. Remove man from the equation and Earth will heal and perhaps become the new Eden. Thank you for sharing. Love and peace,
Back in the "duck & cover" days of my youth, it seems we all lived in fear, and now it's repeating itself again. Will man ever learn, or never learn. As Josey Wales said, People can get along. Governments can't. And that's sad!
It is often said that the Beatles changed the character of the Soviet Union last century and ended the Cold War. But animosities between countries continue. And the rhetoric you speak of in your poem is heating up in several parts of the globe these days. Maybe it's time that we raise the level of poetry and song asking for peace and accommodation once again.
I was watching the movie, Gandhi, yesterday. This single man of great resolve challenged the British Empire and won freedom for all of the Indian peoples and their multiple religions. It is only a partitioning of Hindus and Muslims that has caused any animosity there. Both Pakistan and India are now the nuclear powers.
Like you wrote. We are sitting on a powder keg of nuclear destruction, just waiting to blow up.

I was watching the movie, Gandhi, yesterday. This single man of great resolve challenged the British Empire and won freedom for all of the Indian peoples and their multiple religions. It is only a partitioning of Hindus and Muslims that has caused any animosity there. Both Pakistan and India are now the nuclear powers.
