“SELF EXAMINATION”

 (Speaking back to my “id”)

           {Page one}

There once was a man –

                   of hopeless mien.

  Who thought all things -

                        he had seen.

   Acres of greenery -

             buildings of stone.

Oceans of fiery blue hues –

                      heavens bleak and alone.

   He’d traveled the extent –

              Natures wonders he’d sighted.

Health and joy he had noted –

along with the ever so blighted.

  Fortune, good & bad, he’d weathered –

                       the free and the tethered.

  All this he’d absorbed –

                  without question or doubt.

But he’d not captured his prize –

               came from the arena without.

   He’d found many a friend –

but none in the true sense of the word!

   One who is loyal –

                  one who is heard.

 Above his own judgment –

dispensing advice.

One who would stand by –

        protect against evil & vice.

One who would understand –

        one who would care.

Enough to be present –

        when trouble’s the fare.
