NOT a HAIKU...

Cannot seem to get this haiku thing,
Have seen a few & read the dictionary,
But there seems to be so many & they vary,
Per the dictionary, they use just so many syllables,
In this style I don't seem to see myself able.

Guess I am not as smart as once I thought,
Best to stick to poetry as I have been doing,
Have to stay with what we know & love, or so I ought.

Hate to admit to myself that I cannot do something,
But there is no way around this one,
Maybe if I read several thousand or so more,
My knowledge of haiku form will then soar.

I tried just one,
But that one was just for fun,
As you know I like to find humor,
In all I can, even if its only rumor,
So quite before,
This poem turns into an eyesore,
I should end here, this lore...
