Gotta Touch Daddy…

     (a tribute to Rufuz)

When Rufuz does lie down,

Next to me in bed, or elsewhere,

And I am near; he has to put out his paw,

To touch his dad on the leg or the arm,

Kinda like that of a puppy hug,

Or he just needs to know that I am near.

Such a wonderful dog is Rufuz, he is my little dear,

Came to us from a background of strife,

Made me think many times, did I do right,

He had his problems, but so do we all,

Rufuz is now a member in full standing of our little family.

He gives his daddy kisses, every now and then,

But not in front of others, saving them all just for me,

He makes my life so beautiful, this big rug of stinky fur,

He has saved his daddy in ways I can’t relate,

Sanity for me has come from this relationship, so great.

I am told that dogs do something for their masters,

Making their hearts run slower & making them healthier,

Bringing happiness into our lives, being there when we cry,

This I can express so true ,

He is the best being mine, even as my “crew”…

Can go on for the night, and into the day,

Expressing here what I feel for Rufuz (& don’t let us forget Rene’)

She was the one that made Rufuz possible,

If not for her Rufuz would most likely be elsewhere,

Giving another a wonderful life, so full of fun, so full of vigor,

But both of us are glad, Rufuz is here, and here he will stay,

Till the very end of his days,

I hope they are very, very far away,

As I have tears just thinking of losing my buddy, my pal,

Another love in my life…herein I say…                                                (ed)
