The Best Anti-Depressant in the World...

Writing has helped this depressed soul to become non-depressed, to become a humoristic writer, to become more of a ham...LOL

The Best Anti-Depressant in the World…

Take it from this recently depressed man of almost fifty,

I have found that the best anti-depressant that is also nifty,

Is just the fact of learning how to express the self in words,

To make poetry, to write rhyme,

                            To make yourself shine!

I think that all the psychotherapists in the world, should learn,

To tell their flocks, how to write & consequently burn,

Their checks they usually give to the therapist,

And the drugs they take that they can now spurn,

As this writer has found, that to feel better a lot,

Just put pen to paper, or click on that pooter & type,

For life is not as black as it seems,

It is more than ever always a whole lot more ripe…

Wish I knew of this long ago,

When suicide and death were part of my logo,

But I still keep the pills, just in case,

Even sometimes, depression still presents its ugly face…

But, I do not take those pills like I used to,

As this my present desire has brought to me great peace of mind,

Meditation, writing, reading, and rhyme,

I am altogether better than I ever have been anytime…

Ahhhhh, sweet Ed.. to pour it all out on the paper... to type it onto the screen... to empty our bursting heads, making room for more STUFF! The world of the writer is just what you say here. You have captivated me with your honest and bold telling of the writer's secret: to write is therapeutic, to express our imaginings is to know we're worth something.. never stop listening to yourself.. never stop sharing it with us. You're a wonder, Ed. It's an amazing ride to be a writer, isn't it? Thank you for saying it so well. katy xox.
