At one time as I was growing older
I would think the best way to get through the day...
was to have a little touch of the grape along the way.
I took it strictly for medicinal purposes, of course.
No prescription was needed...
and...
I was one sick puppy.
Every now and then I would take a little sip
just to kind of steady myself.
There were times, however,
when I got so steady I could not even move.
But I did know one thing...
that when I woke up in the morning...
I would feel better some time during the day.
That, in and of itself,
is more than I can say for all the meds I have to take.
Now those old days are over and done.

OK, but I am still in grape city partaking of the nectar
that oozed up between the toes of those virgin ladies stomping
away in those vats. I can't vouch for their virginity, but just
the thought of it all gets me through the night and the next day.
Assuming that this is based on real experience, your wit and talent is not seem to be one of a reformed wino. I myself enjoy a glass of wine every evening with my evening meal and it doesn't seem to affect my writing at all. But then, I don't write in the evening after having my wine.
