Um, I know a girl who likes to say "um."
Like, um...
she, um says "um" a lot.
Like, um...
whenever, um she speaks.
She will, um start to. um say something
then, um she will say "um."
But, um she is lots of fun to, um talk to.
Like, I mean, ya know?
Um... that last line pretty well summed it up. ;-)

Speaking of POTUS, he has been known to use um quite a bit when being questioned because almost anything he says will be immediately interpreted six ways to Sunday.
Um, no... I am not picking on the queen bee. But, um if enough drones pick her as the next POTUS she, um will probably have to serve under the work-release program.
Cute. My wife says um a lot, and it drives me nuts. She'll also say things like, "the traffic was, and yeah." And I'll say, " what the hell does that mean?"
Um is definitely an overused expression. It is most certainly not a word.
Um and Ya know can be nerve-wracking after a while. Except in your little observation. My one friend ends many sentences with "and......"
It takes getting used to!
