I met a mentally challenged girl
In church yesterday
At first I felt pity
I heard her softly singing jingle bells
There it was all so silent
Her father asked her to be quiet
I told him “ Please let her sing”
For her song made my heart flutter
She must be eighteen or bigger
Seemed to me a cute child
I spoke to her at once and happily she smiled
It made me glad, her innocence ,her love shown
She spread so much joy
Like the wind comes and branches nod
She touched my heart’s chord
In the faded heritage structure
Of an old church, hundred years and more
Where people gather like strangers
Not talk to one another
She was the link
A happy smile for anyone
Who cared to talk to her
I saw her father smile
To see her happy
'She likes to sing and dance whole day',he said
Now I know how she makes him proud
How she challenged life
With her carefree smile
Love ya!

Where people gather like strangers
Not talk to one another"
I absolutely understand this. As the saying goes, been there, done that. There is so much standoffish attitude in most of the church services. Most of the people who are in these churches are their to 'do their duty', and to put up a good front.
Wishing you an abundance of creativity!
With respect and smiles,
