The words have been

                Captured in my mind

For so long that

                I’m not sure if

                They even have

Meaning.

The sorrow of loss

                The stress of work,

                Life, school, and money

                Have held my words

Captive.

But the flood gates

                Are overflowing

                And small cracks

                Of words are expanding

                To fill my mind

                And the page with

Hope.

Hope, a word I haven’t

                Used much recently

                But has always

                Been there mixed in the

Mess.

Love has always been

                There in my heart

                And mind but

                That missing hope

                Has shone through

                The locked gates

Now.

I’m not sure what

                Event captured it

                Behind that wall

                But now it’s free

                From all and I

                Hope it stays with

Me.
