WW2 Happening

The soldier lay against a wall,

Eyes looking up at me.

Rifle pointed at ready,

Froze for a moment.

 

To me he was alive,

And I who thought was dead.

I waited and felt nothing,

But the fear of eternity.

 

It was but a second, I guess,

To me a life time.

Realization came

That this soldier was dead.

A real-life experience in a poem… Wonderful! And so remarkable. One dead soldier had nearly scared the life out of you from his mere presence. You were oh so lucky to have survived that and many other encounters during that hellacious time.

On this Memorial Day, I honor your service during a most decisive and necessary war. May we never have another one again.

Fear and what everyone experienced in all wars
is griping...
Some nightmares never to go away...
Horrific what all went through to protect others
all the brave men and women who gave their lives
so others can live or have freedom...

Bless you George for all you went through...
