A sticky lump rises to your throat.

A voice deep within utters many reasons, reasons why you shouldn't stoop low.

Red like a lobster, is the colour of your ears and face.

Almost suddenly, a still voice full of serenity speaks.

It tells you to swallow your pride.

Mr. Pride is wounded, and he brawls back.

Like a wounded beast,he fights.

Deep within you, he causes mayhem.

He tells you why you don't need to apologise.

A battle strikes between the two. One must win!

Words like 'Sorry' seldom come easily.

With tears in yours eyes, cascading like waterfalls, you say sorry.

Suddenly the aura of tranquility embalms you!

Dear Mary,

This poem is so fabulous that you could write a book about it. We know what the Bible says about pride. However, you explained it poetically so all eyes are wide open. You have a special gift Mary. Fly high and spread those wings. UR so special and wonderful. Amen!

Oh yes, yes indeed, the "S" word and Mr. Pride does engage in monumental battles in these kind of situations. It is a shame they do, but there you go . . .

Visions of A Skylark Dressed in Black by Aberjhani

“The woman or man who is a poet, or fiction writer, or playwright, or all of these, is engaged constantly in a jazz ballet of vocabularies, passions, genders, histories, perspectives, death, love, and life. The music of revelation announces itself to
