The Pallbearers
By
Charlene Iverson
Seven sons were born to her.
Seven little boys.
Sizes ranged from small to large.
All her pride and joy.
Love and joy she felt for them.
Her heart was full of pride.
She held them and she nourished them.
And then, one day one died.
The other six were raised by her.
Her heart longed for the dead.
But she knew his time was over now.
She cried out from her bed.
She vowed her loved for the other six.
Then it was her time to go.
Who would now take care of them?
This she could not know.
Six marched down the isle that day.
They lined up on each side
Of her bed of eternal peace and rest.
And they carried her away.
Children please don't cry for me.
Your mamma's going home.
Your taking Mamma home to Him.
I'm finally going home.
but deeper grows the wounds for the other
children grievous for their Mother...
