My Grand mother wanted me to be a Preacher, but I was more the Jesse James type. Maybe she knew something I didn’t.

“Part Time Jesus”

I said “Friend, Did you give some thought today ,
About what our Preacher might have to say,”

Said, “Yeah, I know it’s Sunday, but I really must decline,
Today I’m kinda busy and haven’t got the time,

I’ll just catch up with a sermon on the late, late Gospel show ,
Those TV preachers really are, the very best you know,

I’ve got company coming over, for the Game and Bar B Q,
And Church is really something, they’re just not into,”

I said , “Friend , I’m not the Christian , that I would love to be,
With sinful sights and thoughts, so tempting, they’re everywhere to see,

I just wish that I could close my eyes, to open with a heaven view,
But dying would be so easy , it’s the living that’s hard to do,

Some folks say there is no after death or everlasting life,
Our world was built on simple chance and massive human strife,

I don’t claim to have the answers, just let a Christ life, for me speak,
One that’s free of hate and anger, love and peace is all I seek,

With wonderful friends and family, I’ve been so richly blessed,
What can I possibly count for loss, when I’ve enjoyed the best,

Please give your church and preacher, more than just a thought or two ,

And with all that hate ,the wars and fighting, that’s now come between us ,
Don’t you think it’s time, for more than Sports, and just a “Part Time Jesus”
