A star is a light in the night sky, some times they turn black....

Jessie sent me a note

Asked about the song we wrote

Tasted her love again

Sweetest wine so I begin

*

Dear love of mine

Shallow gift left in time

Write the blues away

Saw your dad today

*

He was sitting in a bar

Wishing on his bottled star

You were on his mind

Just like the last time

*

Dear love lost in the wine

We seem to dream up

Both of us have lost our mind

*

Must have been some other time

Walked into Park Avenue

You hanging on my arm like glue

Father tears in eyes believing all those lies

*

Singing the gift you left; have not seen nothing yet

It is a quarter past three

Once again you are done with me

Daddy sitting in the bar wishing on his bottled star

*

Both of us used up

You are too old to scold

Your heart is as cold as a stone

Pain enters you are alone

*

Sing daddy's tune, the blues

Got a note today your dad says you passed away

Met him down at the grave, shared some jack

Then each went our separate way

*

Kept my promise here is your song
