This poem is dedicated to the people who have fallen victim to violence - by other humans. In particular, this piece addresses racism, and police brutality - part of our world at times.
*sung to tune of Silent Night Silent night, unholy night No peace or calm are ours tonight Watching them fall right where they stand Beaten so badly, blood on ours hands We all should have known Hatred is what we have sewn. Silent night, unholy night Anger�s wealth is in its prime Hatred too, bears watching tonight No one is safe, no one is right We all have blame to own The cover of ignorance blown. Silent night, unholy night His horror captured for our sight Beaten, and pummeled once and again Protect and serve until he�s almost dead How did it come to this? Humanity�s lost its' kiss. Silent night, unholy night Flames abound, thieves in the night Innocent souls now taking their flight They�ve lost their lives without even a fight Hell�s fury knows no bounds Love and peace have drowned.

Rose, as one who has been on the receiving end of the beatings you have described so vividly, I can only say that is why the Police Departments have an Internal Affairs Division. I know there are too many who abuse their authority, yet if anyone files a valid report (civil complaint) against the officer(s) in questioned, it is investigated fully, and I have personally seen the tables turned on the one(s) who felt they were above the law. Needless to say they will investigate the complainant as well as the actual event. So one better have all their ducks in a row. If that fails to put a fire under the departments butt, the good old newspapers do wonders. Thank you for sharing your remarkable talent and timeless treasures my gifted friend.
