The Circus Came To Town One Day
The circus came to town one day
and parked their tents a block away
I peeked out my door
saw animals galore
not a penny did I pay.
I watched as elephants marched down the street
and two funny clowns with great big feet
a top a high wire
with their pants on fire
and the fat ones name was Pete.
Pete had a very big nose
with amazing tricks he stole the show
on the swinging trapeze
he hung by his knees
while juggling with his toes.
The lions were jumping through fiery hoops
while monkeys were twirling doing
loopity loops.
When I saw the giraffe
I started to laugh
as he sat down on the stoop.
He was much to big for the tiny seat
but he sat anyway and kicked up his feet
I thought he would fall
he was way too tall
but his balance he did keep.
I thought for a moment
how hard it must be
for animals like these to
entertain me.
If I had my way
I'd sneak out today
and set everyone of them free!
