I wrote this song when I was only seventeen and just learning to play guitar. At the age of fifty one it has been sang over and over in my family through the generations. I wish you could hear the melody. Maybe that's where your imagination plays a tune of its own.
Little Firefly Hey there little firefly won't you shine for me it's summertime and it's dark outside shine your light so I can see. I caught you in a field the other day and I put you in a jar when I went to sleep last night you shined just like a twinkling star. Hey there little firefly won't you shine for me it's summertime and it's dark outside shine your light so I can see. When I woke up to the morning sun I saw that you were there lying at the bottom of the jar lifeless cause you had no air. Momma found you in my room and threw you in the trash but I went back just a minute ago and saw your light begin to flash. Hey there little firefly won't you shine for me it's summer time and it's dark outside shine your light so I can see. I know it's time to set you free so I'll say my last goodbye I love you very very much my sweet little firefly. Lovey write Kathy. Fireflies are not as bountiful as they used to be. Too much spraying has reduced their population. So unless you are deep in the woods they don't seem to be out that much these days.

D�j� vu all over again. I remember those days of catching fireflies in a jar. Only we put nail holes in the top of the metal jar lid so that the fireflies could breathe. Unfortunately, they still died quickly like all the other creatures we captured and put in a jar.

Nice song, and I can almost hear the music and the guitar playing. Fireflies are amazing!! It is used as lights by many countries during the ancient period; and as of this date, some people catch them just so they can see them shine.
