tuna packed in water

bought you
a pair of pants
and a top—our shopping day
in size medium diet tuna packed in water
bubble wrap tortilla with olives and jalapenos
matching items on the menu

drinking
but not alcohol
you’d be surprised
at my youthful libation
bought you a bottle of magic
to go with your new pants and top

tuna packed
in water correct weight
unopened bubble wrap unpopped
horseradish and salad dressing lite
ageless elixir uplifting tonic

writing pouring
from a teaspoon I drink
the old days of what sage’s
knew preserves life and oh…
I bought you a pair of pants

and a top
in size medium
nowadays I buy outfits
in pairs and tuna packed in water
it’s time for a teaspoon of magic…
