THE BEAT

 (Source: thisiscolossal.com)

Swoosh goes the record,

Swirling to its beat.

Sounds flowing through me,

Can you feel its heat?

Mesmerized by it,

I can’t seem to move.

As it turns and turns

I’m caught in its groove.

Those beautiful sounds we hear are waves created in the molecules of our atmosphere very similar to the ripples you see on water. Only they are invisible to our eyes yet easily picked up by our ears to color our world in ways that color can't convey.

Your poem beautifully captures our being mesmerized by the wavelengths of sound coming from music.

Although record sales have increased in recent years, I'll stick to cd's because their groove is smooth, and they never skip, skip, skip, skip...

I love the repeat-ish sound of your words. Music can be hypnotically intoxicating when it's in the groove of your consciousness. You've got a nice element here, have a great day Susanne, xo
