My Little White Throne

by Dadfire — Read all 70 poems by Dadfire

A metaphorical relief of life's troubles with a humorous slant. According to the Bible there will be a 'great white throne' of judgement but here is my 'little white throne on earth'.

My Little White Throne

( Take a seat and follow along)

I've found my own refuge, where thought seems to flow
as I sit in the quiet, on my little white throne
Captured by porcelain, putting all else aside
I'll give it my burdens as I sit for a time

One purpose, one goal, get done, move on,
I say to myself as I sit on my throne
But rushing I'm not, why hurry to leave
where else in this life can I find such relief

It's steady, it's solid, won't budge an inch
of that which I speak is not what you think
Here I let go of the wrongs I've been done
can dispose of that weight I've carried so long

It's cold at first touch when flesh meets the stone
but warmth slowly comes as I sit on my throne
The coldness of life and angst in my bones
is eased by the warmth on my little white throne

When life gets heavy with burdens to bear
where else can I go with no judgement to wear
Can sit and admit the mistakes that I've made
for my little white throne will flush them away

Here leave your troubles, your worries, your fears,
leave all the wrong turns made over the years
No sentence to serve, no sins to atone
here lighten your load on your little white throne

So here's some advice to all who would hear,
your little white throne is always so near
Go sit and know this relief which I speak
all that's required is just take your seat

Now I've lightened my load, of my burdens set free
I've disposed of my troubles, can get up and leave
I'll stand straight and tall, now free I can roam
perhaps for a day, 'till worries return
then again I must sit on my little white throne.

Ha ha! Enjoyed this poem, in nearby Potsdam, we have yards full of those gleaning white seats! ha ha! In the end, we all must get rid of those things that weigh our lives down and would poison us. In the end, everything comes out good, if we just take a break once in awhile. Now where is that roll?

Beautiful cadence. We must all have a little white throne to rest from life's wearies.

Many a problem has been solved whilst sitting on the little white throne!
A place of philosophical refuge...
Cleverly written...

Never thought of it that way, but yes, we all have our little white throne. Enjoyed this romp on the best place for contemplation. John

Thank goodness for porcelain! Yes many an idea and great epiphanies have come from sitting on the porcelain throne. Here's mine from a well used, but unknown, source.

"Here I sit, brokenhearted…
Tried to s*it, but only farted."

My little white throne,
is quid pro quo.
And with a little Charmin,
I'll enjoy the go.
