If All This Love Don't Kill Me First, I Think I Might Just Live

It use to be just only me, footloose and fancy free,
could go anywhere at anytime, do anything I please.
The life I had was quite a deal, the world was at my door
but along the way the ladies came, a' walking through that door.

With all this love they've filled me up, I think I've had enough,
I've had more love than I can stand, I think I'll give it up.
Now after all this lovin', I know I've had my fill,
if all this love don't kill me first, I think I might just live.

Now they showered me with lovin', what could I ask for more
but every time I wanted to go walking out that door.
They followed every footstep, making sure I walked the line
and never would they ever get, one little step behind.

With all this love they've filled me up, I think I've had enough,
I've had more love than I can stand, I think I'll give it up.
Now after all this lovin', I know I've had my fill,
if all this love don't kill me first, I think I might just live.

I used to do some fishin', or bowlin' with the boys,
sit back,  relax, drink a beer and play with all my toys.
I might be at my buddy's house, there to catch the game,
I'd get a call to "Get on home", she'd say "It's getting late".

With all this love, they've filled me up, I think I've had enough,
I've had more love than I can stand, I think I'll give it up.
Now after all this lovin', I know I've had my fill,
if all this love don't kill me first, I think I might just live.

Now after all this lovin', I know  I've had my fill,
if all this love don't kill me first, I think I might just live.

Modern medicine can cure a lot of stuff but bot a broken heart. Maybe they could get a vaccine for it.

Love! The most single thing that causes more heartache and pain than anything else in this world. Still . . . We seek it.

All a lot of truth in these lyrics. Women: we can't live with them and we can live without them.

The title line is good, but it doesn't rhyme on the last line of the chorus making it a little bit off.

Reads like a song. Really like this one.

Yes, indeed, what a balancing act: having it all and wanting to be had by all, every second. At this point, I prefer to be alone. It's easier, quieter, I make no demands on myself, just enjoy my old age. Enjoyed as always your poem. John
