Something I wrote while on Authors Den during the poem's date - I prefer to laugh if at all possible about difficulties in life.
“Stepped into My Dreams”
Right through the door there was—Ummn…cake…!
A sugary film covered my eyes; it obscured the scenery…
I walked clumsily, and I had plenty of the shakes…
Yikes! I slipped, and fell…in ice cream…
Did I…spill my drinks—oh no! I relished cleaning that up…
So-o-0 damned tasty—I licked…everything…!
Look…a full-blown BEAR CLAW! Trust me—I am not afraid…!
I’ll…sl-a-a-A-Y that thing…! Ummn…!
I’m chewing, ravenously, on this bear claw, but…do I see…A
GIant cARAMel coVERed GReen APPLE…WitH ChoPped pEANuTS?!...Aaaah!
That…is so-o-o-0o Evil! Is this…a…nightmare?!
No-o-0 w-a-a-AY…i can eat tha’ thinG….

“As I Ly Back in Wonder”
This...has to be a trick, yet, I can be tricky…
I love the life out of caramel, but it is so-o-0 Sticky…
Wait…the peanuts are good too, but crunchy…
I’ll have to get started…munching!
My mouth waters—it shakes…!
A pulsating of tastes anticipation ties knots…like hell around my jugular veins!
Cakes are heavy and stifle my climb to claim my stake…
Oh no…this cannot be MY dream…I see my favorite thing—
Behold…so much work it makes!
I start building a step with candy hearts, and…sugarless…cORN FLAKES?!
This is nOt riGHt…I hATE this Dream!
I wish very hard to WAKE…!

“Okay! Okay…Okay”
I am a little tired, and I wasn’t thinking straight—
Of all the things here to eat, MY favorite I have come to hate...
Looking around—there are so many other things to take…
I may never have this dream again…on any another day…
Where, with all, did I get, “sugarless corn flakes”?!
Never mind the weird stuff anymore…
I still have those drinks I spilled at my dreams door—let me see…
Hummn…this…is still wet! I can slurp that up with candy canes…!
Or dip these crumbs of cake with bliss before I wake…!
I must hurry now…I hear a mumbling sound…seems to be…
Coming from my mouth…
I grabbed a sugar coated bag for keeps, and stuffed it full…of…
My favorite things—running towards the door of my dreams…
Like a thief….
Adore this. I ate corn flakes almost everyday for breakfast in highschool. Not off the floor, but with as little milk as possible . Maybe that was the nightmare and not high school.
