We set such great store
on saving our face,
emitting high style
with wit, charm and grace

But in order to get
a right-balanced view,
it's the back that needs seeing
plus the front of me, too!

The face without make-up
and clothes on the floor;
all the junk that's crammed tight
behind locked cupboard door

The mould in the frig
the cooker that's caked;
the words and the promises
- made but half-baked...

Stunning impressions
are easy to feign
but a sweat and a struggle
to keep and maintain

Like loud and proud peacock
tail high in the air,
we might look quite different
viewed from derriere!

Kept just out of view,
sad truth you will find:
Forget what's in front
and look straight behind!
