LOSING IT!
There's grass growing out
the roof of my head
There's springs poking through
the base of my bed
There's vagueness that cobwebs
my days such as these
- when I just cannot witness
the wood for the trees
Tripping and trampling
the tail of the cat,
my body feels lean
but my mind is all fat
My eyes scan the words
and my ears pick up sound...
Nothing is registered:
I'm lost and not found
Please don't ask me questions,
I'm stuck in a maze;
Just let me get over
this absentee phase
I'll get it together
tomorrow, I'm sure -
if I can gather me marbles
from up off the floor!

Been there and had trouble gathering the marbles :-) This is what yesterday was like for me LOL.
OMG, Kate... this is my cup of tea, my morning grin, my heart's desire, these mighty mirth-y verses! I absolutely LOVE this piece! "absentee phase" ... "but my mind is all fat"... these and this entire rambling prove that humor, indeed, is a talent, with phrasings that create mind pictures. I'm keeping this, of course. It will inspire my own efforts, but even more, it will be where I can return for another tickling of my funny bone AND my mind. Great stuff! katy xox.
