CRADLE ROCKER
To the children whose lives I service
I am a hopeless mechanic bereft of tools,
hijacker of wheels
spinning to turbo-injected music,
intoxicated on high-octane.
I’ve no triangle skirt,
stick fingers sprouting wooden spoon
or omega blonde hair in flicks;
oily paws pound keys instead of pastry,
mouth an engine loud with throaty roar.
With headlamp eyes and a pushy nose –
not for flowers but for fuel
and lubrication of life –
I fine-tune my performers,
turning them from wobbly trikes
into sleek, grown-up models,
ready to enter life’s race.
And on it runs "'round and 'round in the circle game". We do hold the world in our hands, sometimes with very little technology. Amazing how great our kids turn out considering their dismay at our clumsiness, lol. But I think God feels in the blanks with respect (and even tunes the engine and does body work if necessary)later. Wonderful analogy, Kate!! I like the play on words in the title. We moms can relate. Cute pic with great attention to detail. Is your youngest the artist? lol, Angelina...
This should have been a Mother's Day write Kate, as it is a fine and skillful tribute to the job that all mothers do. Cute picture...is that you???? <smile>

Angelina, I notice she has begun bashing America too, so I don't know if I waoul even want to be compared to her. Of course, that depends on you own point of view of America. Unique poetry this morning. I liked it.
... and, before you say it, Turner, I recognise that there's not a lot of resemblance between me and Angelina Jolie as Sway in "Fast And Furious"!! :)) xx

Oh do I relate to this! What do kids hear in this junk? My oldest boy always brings me his favorite new song and it sounds exactly like the last ten.
"What's different about this one Garrett?" I querie.
"Dude," he replies, "it's the vocalist man, can't you hear how cool he is?"
