Poem Artwork

Sandman stand to the side
I need a little bit more time
As grains fall slowly on my brow
I need to stay awake somehow

You see I have so much to do
A few less grains I ask of you
Just a couple more minutes Please!
Then you can send me into dreams

I feel my days have grown too short
Extend it just one moment more
Sandman come to my house last
So daytime doesn’t pass so fast

Perchance one more minute please
Before you enter through my screen
That’s all I ask and nothing more
This I plead, stay out my door

Sandman stand to the side
I need a little bit more time
As grains fall slowly on my brow
I need to stay awake somehow

Then I will welcome the sands of time
If you’d just give me some more time
To sing and dance and hold my sons
Before my day is finally done

AH... This photo is gorgeous! The poem is wonderful too. There is never enough time for hugging sons (and daughters). I think I will go do that now. :~)

Theresa, the photo is stunningly beautiful...a tribute to Nature's glory, and your plea is so apropos...one can relate. The older one gets the faster daytime slips away...I hope your Sandman heeds you.

Love,
Gina

The stunning photography so illustrates the sense of "losing battle" we have with Sandman when he becomes insistent! I marvel at those busy, busy people who seem to have at least 48 hours to my feeble 24, and I usually stagger to my bed without the least shred of resistance left in me at the end of 19 hours... But, what do I do with my allotted time? Whatever, never enough spent "hugging sons", that's for certain sure. Nice strong rhythm to your verses here, Theresa. Pleased to meet you and to read about your fascinating life. I look forward to more. TY Kate xx

Sometimes I wish for sleep, but your poem begs reality. Simple and lovely, a metaphor for the time we have left.

This is a superb poem TJ that truly moves the emotions! The pboto has to be one of the best I've ever seen with the glimmer you captured on the water and behind the trees, with such clarity! To me an award winner!

Lovely and original. You are right when you say the days get shorter and what a wonderful way you have of expressing it.

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives...Sandman Stand to the Side is a special reminder to use our time wisely and get the most out of each day. When one is with Nature, one is Whole. Another reflection in the cathartic waters of life each day and we take a moment of silence to absorb what has been created for us all in the diversity of life...be well, Theresa...Blessed Be.

I Really love the poem Theresa, just this morning I was thinking about how much time we spend sleeping, when time is slipping away. Beautiful work.
