FREEDOM - Editor's Choice Award: September 2003 Poetry.com / Published in: "The Colours of Life" 2003

FREEDOM - was presented by International Society of Poets - Convention and Symposium 2003

 FREEDOM

Just like an Eagle,

soaring the skies,
with the strength of a gale behind him,
the freedom of the open spaces ahead,

you too,

should live with that strength and freedom,
fearing nothing and nobody, and
using your independence with discretion,
for should you weaken,
you will be caught,
your wings clipped,
your freedom forever lost!

and once that freedom and strength drains,
you too will fade away,
with nothing to show,
that you were ever here at all,

because we are but,
just fragments of this Universe,

and our failure goes unnoticed.

This reminds of the phrase I heard "Stop thinking about what others think about you because you'd be surprised as to how little time they worry about what you think about them." (Or somethin' like that.)

Freedom unused is freedom abused. Well said E.B.

Yes our wings have been clipped and

Freedom! This was very good and I also loved the picture, just what this country needs and a lot of other souls, freedom!
