This is something obscure I wrote a little while ago, thoughts which flooded my mind. Not totally poetic, and I guess very different to the norm. I would like to ask if you would be kind enough to comment and let me know your feelings. I know I am being somewhat cheeky :) but all comments would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance for stopping by and reading.

much love
Elga

What was I doing ?

Awoke feeling ice cold!

The gripping hand of fear grabbing and taunting me, staring at me with ominous glaring eyes and laughing so loudly it rumbled and shook my foundations… the core of what used to be me.  There’s a dull and sombre look within the eyes reflecting what I now have become, nothing but a hollow excuse for a human, and I shudder.  Someone had rattled the keys to the cells of my mind, shocking, the shiver of death teasing, calling, tempting and I stare into emptiness and total oblivion,

Where am I? Who am I? What have I become?

“Silence” comes booming the voice from within, “my slave, my puppet you have become.  I command silently and you obey diligently, at my beck and call you bow and please,”

In silent retrospect I sit there shocked and numbed, indeed I am nothing but a number along with thousands of others. So alluring it is, swept off with such charm, adrenaline rush like white water rapids furious and exhilarating, confidence booster calling your name, like a pill on the tongue, to take away the aches and pain.

“A junkie you have become” booms that voice again from within.

In a state of paralysed confusion I am lost in this web of delusion, and so attached I have become, and say “just 5 more minutes” and the minutes into hours, hours to days, days to years, and unknowingly you have vegetated and grown old, but still the silent voice of reason tickles the emotions within, and for a lucid moment, I snap out and see disgust staring back at me.  I don’t need this, not here not now, I am not condemned within the silent and invisible walls that surround me;

“But who is me?” questions the silent voice of reason,

“Leave her be, and let her enjoy” booms the thunder from within.

Entrusted into the realms of that which you think is reality, so painfully obvious a spiralling web of deceit, your minds on a downward sickening fall.  Entombed within the confines of these dying walls, of this mind that is crying in pain knowing something is wrong, but there’s no one to blame, caterpillars crawl along the rims of your sleep, faces staring and glaring and baring their teeth, eyeballs obscured and in place there are ears, they listen to hear where their eyes would’ve been, ears that now see with eyeballs protruding you scream but your voice fades into silent oblivion.

N.B. "confidence booster calling your name, like a pill on the tongue, to take away the aches and pain."  Please do NOT misinterpret this! It's a figure of speech.

Elga,
They're only moments in life that I enjoy being lost, and inside your lines are them. You've surpassed even yourself with this pen.

an interesting write, very dark in nature...it felt more like a dream than a story excerpt or anything else, in its stream-of-consciousness form. love your writing style!

This reads like the horror of a fever dream where escape is impossible and reasoning beyond our comprehension. Your images are vivid and there is a chill of fear woven throughout the verses. Excellent job, Elga!
Take care,

This is profoundly enthralling, Elga. It captivates the imagination and elicits thoughts from deep within. Most introspective as well. Thank you. Love, peace, and strength to you.

WHAT WAS I DOING? is a wrenching psycho-drama that pulls the reader deep inside a battle for one's very soul. The scary thing here is that the outcome is not necessarily a victorious one, which makes this even more powerful because sometimes that's exactly how it goes. Some of us lose those battles and others are left to mourn their sad defeat.

Elga,

Very frightening thought here. It is such a scream going through life and not ever having a clue to whom we are.

Chilling, as I think of my sister and her last days lost in a dream world on morphine--or should I say a nightmarish world. I watched
the life literally leave her body and then I felt a warm hand caressing my shoulder. Who are you? You are one with all, afloat on
the river of time. Housed in a temporary shell who's pain will
project you forward in your evolution. Dark write for dark times...

The metamorphose in life can indeed raise many questions that you must sort out. Our nature evolves from our youth and we can command in which direction it will take. The butterfly does not remember his transition from being a catipillar but only dreams of each flower with sweet nectar that he will taste.
Love your use of metaphors in this deep and dark write of abstract thoughts.

This makes me think a bit of Goethe's Faust. We never know who we are. Yet, we always know who we are. It is the inner turmoil, the ying and yang of ourselves that is always pulling us apart from inside. As you have reflected, when we do see ourselves, it is as frightening as the thought of not knowing. Sometimes it is best to just enjoy life when we can and let those moments be our hope when we can't. ~ Sara

Oh Elga, a darkly probing reflective write. Such raw ruminations as these are good to engage from time to time. But don't forget to ponder, "Who do I wish to become? What is happiness to me?" In answering, best to leave any and all drugs out of the conversation.
Peace,
Carolyn

Exercising the mind. And interacting with the wide wide world of gentle folk. I've learnt many new and interesting facts, learnt the guitar. And saved hours in the library waiting for books.

But the ancient question remains. WHO AM I.

Intelligently written. Only those who want to think they're a number will be. What really counts are family, friends, and love.

Sounds a bit like a transparent identity crisis..
The caterpillar must become the butterfly.

Ones life is ones own choice.
If it weren't for Ben. I could not see this, cos I need glasses.
Eddy for the light to see it.
and the list goes on and on.
The future is always bright..

The web has become reality for some. That is why everyone needs to contact the ouside world...

But have you seen the movie "MATTRIX"? If you have seen it you'll know and understand why the world and its people are the way it is, and it's most certainly going toward it.

The web...it will eventually succeed in taking over everyone's life. Everyone will be assigned a number to live in the computer world, and is programmed how your life should live.

Well, anyway, I must say that any kind of addiction is not good. Before you know it, life passes. We should all go out and "get a life"; but then again...

What is the definition of life?
What is the definiation of the quality of life?
What is the definition of a life that once have been lived and was enjoyed?
What is the definition of enjoyment in life? - to ourselves? to others?
What is the definition of "A life that is well-lived?"

Okay, perhaps my brain is working over-drive this morning. I must say I seem to be wide awake - even didn't have my coffee yet. Can you believe it?... :)
