The Will To Live

Collaboration between Peter Paton and Amelia Amy Peterson on the subject of Depression and other related Psychological Disorders

When Darkness and Paralysis encroach
Stifling and imprisoning the mind and soul
The Will To Live is sapped with oppressive inertia
And extinguished by the Perpetual Twilight
Of Depression and Anxiety

No hope of escape is contemplated or devised
In this Cage of Gloom
Four walls of agony
Strung high with Anguish and Melancholy
Surround and Encircle
The despairing child within

Two Halves that no longer make a Whole
Ying and Yang , Out of Sync
Soft and Hard , in Bitter Rebellion
The World has closed in on you
The Pitcher is shattered
And The Golden Cord is Broken

Everything happens for a purpose
everything is guided by some cosmic design
So you think the world is falling
it’s only raining inside your mind

Heartbreak the torture that rips you apart
you question your motives and every talk
what if’s and why not’s fill your thoughts
and you can't see beyond the moment

Take a deep breath and first say a prayer
almighty god “what is this for”
release the why me's and be open to receive
god sometimes answers. in your dreams

Pick up a book, uplift yourself
you are not the only one to suffer
Don't read about pain, read about hope
allow your mind to be guided by above

You have a choice within yourself
always the divine right to choose
You can wallow in pain and suffer still
or you can acknowledge there is always something more

Dear Peter and Amelia,

Powerful and amazing words, a subject too many people have no concept of. The truth is, love, support and understanding are key issues. Thank you for your wonderful thoughts and expressions, wonderful collaboration.

Peter and Amy, whenever you two allow your thoughts to merge the final result is excellent! Though the subject has been around for quite sometime, it has only been recently addressed. Far too often, people suffer needlessly due to a lack of funding, which would help ease the plight of both the person inflicted with the chemical imbalance, which they say causes these bouts of depression and outbursts and those who are on the receiving end on them. Well-done you two. Thanks for sharing it. Take care and be well.

I need this more than anyone will ever know. You are a man of convictions a man who knows Gods will...please tell me why someone would say that all women were placed on this earth as prey for men? I loved this man and I never saw this part of him until today. He fooled me. He cut my heart into pieces and I feel as though I am a fool.

Thank you, you two, for opening the doors and windows on such a "locked away" subject. Can wholly relate and, like you, share the belief that the key to healing is both within us - looking for and dealing with the "trigger" - and outside of us in the form of divine focus, seeing things from His perspective and allowing Him to lovingly and graciously intervene. I don't think we live in a spiritual vacuum... one force tries to suck us under whilst the other is intent on helping us to walk ON the overwhelming waters and keep them under! Thank you for your bravery in tackling head-on what can be a very emotive subject. Bless you, Kate xx

TY Peter and AMY for the message of Faith and not asking "Why me" or posting about PAIN for I know you all are probably getting tired of looking at it, right?

WELL, I HAVE YOU KNOW, that the poems are a way to release the vent up frustrations and anger inside of me that I do not let show to my family (sisters and Mom, her boyfriend) I have only lately started to show my feelings of PAIN to my sister, Kris because she lives with me and I depend upon her for transportation. I cannot drive because of seizures, they finally took my license away in 2001.

I do NOT have to have your reviews on these poems! All I need to do is show them and it helps me psychologically!

I have a very strong Faith for me to have lived 13 years PAST the DEATH DATE of May 4th, 1991. I was diagnosed in May 1989.

It was a good collaboration between you and Amy however Peter. I really did like it. I just did not like the tone of the personal attack on me.
