" Memories Are Made Of This "

...........................................................

Stopped in my tracks

By the sound of a blackbird

Fluting and trilling in unrivalled form

Perched precariously atop a cherry tree

Cherished  memories swept me back

To when I was just a lad

Single and unattached

And filled with boundless energy

Flashbacks of times gone past

When I hadn't a care in the world

And I thought I would live for ever

With wild imagination running amok

The whole world was my oyster

Then all of a sudden

I saw mom with loving smile

Brushing away all my tears and fears

And caring dad reassuring me

That its all in the game of life

Just be yourself my son

I pictured my beloved sisters and brothers

Playing down at the pond

On sun kissed summer days

And halycon evening nights

When homemade cooking tasted so good

And little boys and girls

Played with innocent design

Sunday church and prayers

Were part and parcel of life

Suddenly I stirred

As the hubbub of traffic

Catapulted me back to reality

I headed home in grace

With a smile on my face

Remembering and reminiscing

From whence I came

Yup, it sure feels good

To be where I'm at

Our makeup starts there in the beginning and looking back allows us to see not only our physical but those things we are molded by spiritualy.
This poem did as Allen stated bring a peace to the reader following you in your poetry. Beautiful piece Peter thanks for the reminders oc being content with our lives.

Too many are busy filling their beaks with gold trinkets, grabbing present-moment materialism, deaf to the sound of the blackbird. To those who spend their life waiting for the payoff are those who never seize the sights and sounds of nature. Beautiful verse and photo. They compliment one another, think I'll stay awhile and filter it all, use it for growth. Thanks Peter.

Those are the memories you share so that your strength can be felt from those who need it and have never experienced it. GREAT sharing!

"It sure feels good To be where I'm at"... and an attitude of gratitude will get you there EVERY time! It's amazing how just a single cameo snapshot in life can trigger this chain reaction which makes tectonic shift in your inner being for the rest of the day - often a Divine insight will do it. You have been very blessed and gifted - both by the song of the blackbird and by the security of the early homelife that contributed to making you the person you are today: "good to be where you're at!" Delightfully portrayed, Peter, thank you. Kate xx

Sometimes we have to pause a while in life. We also have to pause and listen to God and allow him to come into our lives and make the pain easy to bear. God has blessed us with the gift of writing and it is way of release for us all. God bless and keep you in all your endeavours.
