Poem Artwork

Oh the games people play now
Every night and every day now
Never meaning what they say now
Never saying what they mean

And they wile away the hours
In their ivory towers
Till they're covered up with flowers
In the back of a black limousine

[Chorus:]
La-da da da da da da da
La-da da da da da de
Talking 'bout you and me
And the games people play      Joe South

" This poem is dedicated to fellow Author's Den writer Tinka Boukes and all other women and men who are suffering abusive relationships in muted silence and compliant obedience "

...............................................................................................................................................................................................

When the unforgiving door slams shut

the nightmarish abuse begins again

the control freak monster, rears his ugly head again

and the whiplash tongue starts her tirade again

if it's true all men are bastards

then my Mum got it right again

I've watched my sisters cower

when the monster comes home again

and seen my brother slither

when the bitch gets out her claws

it's a f***ed up world we live in

and it sickens me to my pit

for a man that hits a woman

is a bastard in my eyes

and a woman who scorns her husband

dozen't deserve to wear his ring

so excuse me all my poets

while I throw up my bile

there's no such thing as love anymore

with the games that people play

toying with each other's emotions

and jumping in and out of bed

wearing their alter egos

whilst conceit and pride they hide

I'm gonna go out and buy two tickets

and escape with my love to Mars

As the morals decay, escalates the fray, there's just no bottom line. It's not just the men, but women and kids, are leaving their conscious behind. Sociopath is word for our times, as the definition falls close to home; no morals ,no guilt, no shame, the conscious just doesn't exist. The world has given in to self centered love, and the hell with all the rest. They'd beat you soon as look at you, and leave you bleeding to die, It's all because they only care, about the self, the me, the I. No restraint to temper their temper, no respect, to alter their treatment; of the young and the old, they only care about themselves, and aren't open to be told: that life as we know it, the freedoms we treasure, and protect; will all by themselves, fall by the wayside, if manners and respect we continue to neglect.
That's my little story, I hope that you agree, cause in your poem,
I saw and felt, the same anger, that exists, in me.------- Art

Peter,

You may have saved lives today; oh, I hope so. Especially for Tinka's sake. Tinka: your life, your children's lives, are far more valuable than you think. GET OUT. Don't matter--there are shelters for women and children in trouble.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Hard hitting, brutal write--but the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship are far worse.

:) Peter :),
A man who will stand up for the so-called 'underdogs' deserves a metal but all I have is applause :)!
Some carry out their threats, others just spew lies but who knows which person is which? Therein is a reason for the 'wait', the 'continuation' of the misery.
Surely those who 'can' ... do; those who 'can't' don't. It's that simply.
God bless you, Tinka and all those who suffer abuse of any sort, any where.

Thank you Peter for taking the time to write this...what can I say....what ever step I take will mean the end of me if I do NOT get out so far that he can never find me again....he made that promise to kill me if I try anything that would humiliate him.
I am leaving in two days time to visit my daugher...and while I am gone I will try and work out some plan to move out...I have one problem...I have NOWHERE to go without him finding me....If I want to go I have to leave the country!! Or dead I will be for sure!!
I still have one child in school that makes that kind of move difficult.
But thanks for your support and for caring.....buy and extra ticket or two okay...!!!!!!

You hit the nail on the head Peter in this no holds barred write! I waited 16 years before I found the courage to leave a mental and physical abuser.I didn't do my boys any favor hoping to keep a home together and not divorce as was my parents wish. We suffered terrible abuse. No one should have to go through that as you have so wiely said neither man or woman have the right to be so abusive. This is such a beautiful planet given to us by a loving Creator so full of grace, how could we repay Him by being so ugly and mean! I'll never understand it! Thank you Peter, you are a gift to us!
Love,
Eileen

Life is about loving and this paset of life is wasted love. The very sad part is the victims often believe tht this IS love since it's all they know. It doesn't have to be physical abuse either. I lived with the mental terror abuse can bring but got out quickly and never looked back. Ralph's love terrorized my nightas so viciously that I ended up taking Ambian to sleep. Now I need nothing and rest assured I won't be terrorized ever again.
I'm glad you wrote this supportaive look at abuse for male and female.

Bless you!
Susan

This hurts bad, a frustrating problem.
I've always been one of those nice guys women praise but don't pick- and then they cry on my shoulder about the monsters they do pick.
So I'm left wondering things like how can such an awesome cook actually find a guy on this planet who would complain about her meals? She found him.
How can such a beautiful lady find a guy who teases her about her weight in front of company? She found him.
And then the physical abuse. How can you find somebody who would actually be violent? That is so insane I honestly wouldn't even know of such a person- but I do know very nice ladies who find them.
I get upset thinking I'm crazy...an old fashioned freak raised by parents in what was called a family.
I recently had the sweetest lady tell me how her first husband used to pick up their pet cat and beat it until feces came out. Then she explains this was BEFORE they were married.
BEFORE you were married?
Is that a turn on? Honest to God.
I give a cat Pounce treats and scratch it's chin...no wife for me.
Yeah, hold my seat for Mars.
John

Reality is what we are here to confront and we can't hide from it. Men who hit their wives and denegrate them at every chance can't hide behind liquor and say I'm sorry the next day. Once you might forgive him twice and you are the fool. Both species should be reported to the police and have them put in jail. Otherwise get a restraining order and if they don't comply report them to the police. There is no excuse for living with an abusive husband or wife.
