On the isle of Viti Levu We were welcomed by the tribe To share their humble offerings Beneath a Christmas sky They sang songs of adulation So beautiful and clear Their voices touched me deep inside so simple and so pure We strolled through the village �till the feast had been prepared In a hut on woven mats the offerings were shared I was seated with the elders The chief was at my side She amongst the women Children showered her with smiles We passed 'round the Yangona bowl �till we could drink no more Then bid farewell to our gracious hosts And walked back to our bure� �along the moonlit shore Copyright �2003,�2004 Edwin Dante Larson
